Handy Manny Tools - How They Originated

If there is a toy that is sure to be a hit with boys, it would most likely be a set of a tools. Young boys love to mimic their fathers. And if their dad has some favorite tools he uses to do repairs around the house, you can be sure your little guy would love to have a set of tools just like his dad's. The fact that kids like to pretend to use tools to repair things is why the Handy Manny Tools have become some of the most popular toys for boys.

If most parents are pretty familiar with Handy Manny it's probably because their kids like to watch this cartoon on the popular Disney television show named after Handy Manny. Many is a helpful man who carries his tool box around with him and performs repairs for his friends.

Because of his popularity, Disney partnered with Fisher Price and has produced a large number of Handy Manny toys that are sold in various sets. One good example of these toys is the Handy Manny Tool Box containing the seven basic 'talking' tools. A Handy Manny action figure is also available for your little workman to play with along with each of Manny's talking tools.

Handy Manny’s Talking Tools

Handy Manny is an excellent role model for kids because he is very kind and helps many people with his amazing assistants, his talking tools. Manny also has several friends he can count on. They are Kelly, the hardware shop owner, and Mr. Lopart, from the Candy Store.

Each of Handy Manny's talking tools has a name and personality. The original seven tools included in the tool box are:

  • Felipe, who is a Philips screwdriver who thinks he is one of the most important of Handy Manny's tools.
  • Turner, who is a flathead screwdriver who often argues with Felipe.
  • Stretch, who is the tape measure who says the measurements out load as he is stretched out.
  • Squeeze, who is a female pair of pliers who sometimes gets impatient while waiting to do repair work.
  • Pat, who is a rather clumsy hammer who is obsessed with nails.
  • Rusty, who is a very timid monkey wrench.
  • And Dusty, who is a clever hand saw who acts as the big sister of the group of tools..

Handy Manny has acquired more tools recently. They are Flicker the flashlight who speaks Spanish, Spinner, Sneeze and Roland who are the power drill, vacuum cleaner and deluxe tool box respectively.

What Jobs Can Handy Manny's Tools Do?

One of Handy Manny Tools is a talking screwdriver. What is great about this toy is that it functions like a real screwdriver in that you can tighten or loosen screws and bolts. However it isn't a real screwdriver because it is designed specifically for young boys who love to use their father’s toolbox.

Another good example of why these toys are ideal for children ages three and up is that the tools can sing and they speak in English and Spanish. Batteries are needed, though, to make the tools speak and they are not included with the Handy Manny Tool set.
